so my bf went to the doctors today because he's been feeling really sick, he had a fever, and small sores inside his mouth, so the doctor told him he has herpes type 1 and gave him some meds, told me to get myself checked as well. but i have no health insurance and i just want to know if its possible that he got it another way not necessarily from have sex/oral sex, or if he did get it from me how come i feel great? everything looks and feels normal down there, i do discharge but not any thing abnormal. so idk can someone just te;; me if thos has happened to you. thankss,

correct - you'd have to have had it to give it to him.   Many adults do have hsv1 whether they get obvious cold sores to know it or not.

oral herpes is almost always transmitted from kissing.  you can get hsv2 orally from performing oral sex but the risk of that is low.

sores inside the  mouth can be due to many things. without a lesion culture, no way to know if this is hsv1, hsv2, herpangina, enterovirus or any other number of things.

you can both get type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what if you want. odds are neither of you have ever had them before this.
