Initial signs of HSV?

Grace and all,

As I've been awaiting my Western Blot results for HSV-2,

My girlfriend has become sick.

She has been very fatigued, and has neck pain and a swollen pea size lymph node just below her left ear.

Does this sound like HSV-2?  I thought only the lower lymph nodes would be affected during an HSV-2 genital outbreak.  Additionally, I found a post from Doc HHH that states swollen lymph nodes are usually only present when visible ulcers have developed.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as my test results won't be back until Friday, and I've read that early suppressive medication can help reduce future outbreaks if started during the initial OB.

Thanks again,

Borat

To give an update....

My GF had an inner ear infection.

I have tested negative with Western Blot at > 1 year.

As Grace says, not everything is herpes.

Thanks all for your incredible support over this last year, I hope I can help others that are in my situation.

God Bless,

Borat

Grace,

good to hear from you...  Yeah, this positive 1 year test has got me freaked out.  After a negative 4,7,11,16 week tests...  I'm still hoping for a false positive and hopefully the WB will come in soon (they said Monday now.)

by the way, my gf took some sudafed and feels a ton better...

I'll work on taking your and Dr H's advice ;)

K,

Thanks for your input, you're probably right...  I need to calm down and quit thinking everything is herpes.

sounds like its getting cold out and she has gotten sick and needs to see her doctor. lymph nodes swell around the general area of infection ie her neck/throat would be an indication of conjestion, sore throat, head cold... not so much herpes. calm down and wait for your results.
