What Do I Have???

I recently had sex (oral & vaginal) with a man I met 2 ½ weeks ago. The condom slipped off during intercourse and I did give him oral & vice versa (so stupid, we were drunk). A few days later I noticed a lump on my vagina that eventually went away after a few days (did not crack, ooze or anything). Then I had itching and difficulty sitting down around my butt, tingling etc, but it was out of my eyesight so I could not see any lesions/bumps. I also experienced UTI symptoms (that I got tested for 2 weeks ago, later came back I had bacterial infection), took antibiotics and had some lower ab pain (below my belly button) tingling near my vagina, nerve spasms, etc. More recently this week, I lost my appetite, when I do eat I barely eat anything, I had mild diaherra, my tongue has bumps under and on it (it doesn’t hurt at all), yellow.

What does hurt is my stomach, I’m not sure if it is the anxiety or something else (feels acidic, stinging pain, but not horrible). I do want to mention, I haven’t gotten sick, no swollen glands, no night sweats etc, but again it’s only been 2 ½ weeks……..

Finally I said enough is enough, I went to the OBGYN this morning, she looked around my vagina for lesions and said she didn’t see any (THEN WHAT AM I FEELING, I know this isn’t in my head), but I asked her to test me for HSV & HIV. I have a feeling its either one, some of my symptoms can match either diagnosis from what I googled and now I am terrified, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, it’s all I keep thinking about… I will not have my results back for 5-7 business days.

Signed,
Full of Anxiety & Terrified

Hi there -

HIV wouldn't give you symptoms so fast, so while I can't say you don't have it (depends on how recently your partner had been with anyone else, etc.), your symptoms aren't related to HIV.

Equivocal just means they can't determine whether or not you have it. When you retest, make sure it's a type specific IgG test. If they do a non-specific test again, and it comes back positive, you don't know if it's a pre-existing hsv1 infection you didn't know you had, or type 2, or what.

In any case, if you do have herpes, I promise you that it is not nearly as bad as you are thinking it is, but we can cover more of that if you test positive. For most people, it's a minor nuisance.

Hi,

Me again. My partner and I both got tested, I came back equivocal for a non specific HSV test. Were both negative for HIV!
