HSV question

I'm a male in my 20s.  From May to August of last year, I had sex with a woman.  I wore a condom initially, but since she was on birth control and it seemed to be a relationship, she eventually talked me into not wearing one.  I would estimate that I had unprotected sex with her about a dozen times.  We broke it off in August, but I did have sex with her one time in October (unprotected).  She was upfront about having one sexual partner in between, which I can only assume was also unprotected given her dislike of condoms.  I never noticed any type or sores on her (which I realize doesn't mean she wasn't asymptomatic), and when I asked her about it she said she had never had any problems.  I don't really trust her word, and honestly wouldn't have been surprised if she had slept with an ex while we were seeing each other that summer.

I got tested for HIV, Clam, and Gon. about 2 weeks after the October encounter.  All came back negative, so that cleared me for all but the October encounter (so really, not at all).  I haven't shown any symptoms of any STDs except for one possible exception.  I noticed a little red bump on my lip back in June, but it never fit the bill of herpes and quite honestly just looked like a zit.  The thing that concerned me was its location right on the vermillion border of my lip.  Sometime around August I noticed my lip was wet, but I had no recollection of cutting it and had no warning or symptoms of anything going on.  I had a small sore on the same spot of my lip that wept a clear fluid.  It stopped after about 2 hours and healed up.  It never had a "poison ivy" look.  Then, a week ago, about an hour after I had trimmed my moustache with clippers, I noticed I had another weeping spot midway up the very middle of my lip (in my moustache).  There was no symptoms of HSV other than the weeping.  The weeping makes me think I may have a strain of HSV, but I've never had anything that fit the classic cold sore description.  Any red spot on my lip was just a single spot, and it was never fully on my lip.  I talked with someone who has shingles to get their opinion, and she said that the first infection of any herpes virus is unmistakable and that I didn't fit the description.

Additionally, it's a little more confusing because I caught staph last summer on my leg from a spider bite (the culture confirmed it as "a rare form of staph"), and I have had it recur 3 or 4 times on my leg since.  Also, I've always had acne that tends to manifest in large sores.  If I eat greasy foods and don't wash my mouth afterwards, it's common for me to get a pimple.

I went and gave blood/urine samples on Wednesday to test for HSV1, HSV2, HIV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis.  They said the results would come back Friday at the earliest, but possibly on Tuesday.  I'm really stressed about it and have been playing internet doctor like everyone else here, and with the exception of this site all the information out there is pretty doom-and-gloom.  I would sincerely appreciate any feedback.

the best thing to do is to wait for your results and go from there. once you have them, I can better help you :)

also be sure to read up on MRSA infections online so you know what cleaning to do on your house and laundry to try to keep it from reoccurring as much.  you might also want to ask your provider about doing bleach baths too.

you can't compare the 2 results - they are completely different so it makes no difference if one is higher than the other. both are clear negative. congrats!

Hi, thanks for your response, I will look into your suggestions.

I got the results today from the IGG blood test, and the results are:
HSV1:   0.29
HSV2:   0.02

She said I tested negative for everything, and that the cutoff for a positive HSV1 score is 1.10.  It seems higher than my HSV2 score, am I well within the safe range?  I know I'm being paranoid at this point, but I want to be absolutely sure I don't have a false-negative and/or give something to someone else.  Should I assume with confidence that I'm 100% a-ok?
