What are my chances of NOT having Herpes?

In the past I have had a sexual relationship with a man who I later found out was "with" several other females during the same time period.  One of those girls was aware that I had been with him and when she tested positive for genital herpes she called me to inform me that I should get tested.  I know that he was exposed to it.  As of now he hasn't been tested.  There was no condom used.  I will be getting tested very soon, but until then I need something to put my mind at rest.  Is it even possible that I don't have it?  I haven't had any symptoms or signs of it, but I have had a persistant sinus infection giving me a fever and headache which I've seen listed as symptoms of the herpes virus also.  I'm so freaked out that I can't even eat.  My last encounter with him was 2 weeks ago.  Is it possible that HE didn't get it even though he was exposed?  IF he did and he hadn't started showing signs or symptoms than could he have still passed it to me?

Fevers and headaches are totally consistent with sinus infections.

You said you had a sexual relationship with this man.  You did not say you were exclusive.  Even if you were, unless your partner is a virgin, there is a chance that they have an std.  This is why its important to discuss things before you have sex.  Assuming never helps.

And no - people with herpes are not infectious all the time.  Yes, its possible to get herpes at any time, if the person who has it is shedding the virus.  That only happens occassionally.  The thing is that we don't know when that happens.

All of you should read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com.

As for symptoms....from what I've read, I understand that you can have it forever and never even have symptoms.  And, maybe it's too soon for symptoms to occur?  I don't think getting tested will be a waste of time because I'll get tested for everything else at the same time!  I would hate to have it not knowing, and pass it on.  I know the sinus infection isn't related....but the fever and headache......  Yeah, I'll try to chill out :)

If you haven't had any symptoms at this point and he has never had any symptoms, I wouldn't even waste my time getting tested!! Clearly you don't have it but if testing will make you feel better, go for it.. Don't be surprised if you test positive for HSV1 as MANY people have it and don't even know it. You probably caught it when you were real real young but like I said, many people have it... You need to relax girl and not even worry about this unless you have definite symptoms.. Sinus infection is not herpes releated.. herpes is a skin disease..

Thank you.  So....people are infectious only sometimes not constantly?  I was under the umpression that it could be transmitted at any time.  No matter if there are symptoms present or not.  Isn't that true?

When you think your sexual partner is not with other people and you find out otherwise and that you were exposed to something such as genital herpes.  It is a shame.

I believe it was type 2 that she tested positive for.

Yes i know my status from before.  I've always maintained good health and precautions and had regular tests as well.  I've never tested positive for anything.

Why 3 months?  Would a test before that amount of time goes by not be an accurate indicator?

What's a shame about it?

What type of genital herpes did the other woman test positive for? Was it 1 or 2?

Do you know your HSV status from before seeing this guy?

Get tested in 3 months.

You still very possibly won't have it- remember people are infectious sometimes not constantly. Definitely get checked but don't panic before, because it won't help to. Such a shame you were put in this situation
