I was recently diagnosed with hvs-1 genital infection, which I got from my partner. We have only had oral sex, and so that is how I became infected. He has never had sypmtoms of hsv-1 (cold sores, or a genital outbreak) which means that he was infected at an early age, and has built up some immunity to the symptoms. So, my question is, 1. If I have an hsv-1 genital infection, can I still get cold sores on or around my mouth, having never previously being infected with the virus? and 2. If in the future he performs oral sex on me, can he contract the hsv-1 genital infection, or does his previous "immunity" prevent that from happening? Or, is it possible that my genital infection of hsv-1 can cause him to have a outbreak or "flare up" of oral symptoms from performing oral sex? Any insight...?
