herpes confusion

Hi I am 25 years single .I am a virgin. When i was in india i found some spots  on my penis doc said it is herpes .After then i was taking  herbal medicines from that doc. From 3 months i am not using any medicines and i just had a regular check of the STD...everything shows up negative.I dint go for HSV1 test.

But HSV 2 shows up as negative. This is the first time i am testing from last 2 years.

Now my questions are

1.)indian doc is saying lies for money ?
2.)the test HSV2 shows as

HSV 2 IGG, HERPESELECT TP TYPE SPECIFIC AB 0.34 index

Index Interpretation
1.10 Positive

This assay is type specific and will differentiate
between HSV-1 and HSV-2 infections. A single positive
result only indicates previous immunologic exposure
and the level of antibody response may not be used
to determine active infection or disease stage. The
test should be repeated in 4-6 weeks when negative or
equivocal results are obtained in suspected early
herpes simplex disease.

The performance of this assay has not been established
for pediatric populations, for neonatal screening, or
for the testing of immunocompromised patients.

3.)last time i checked my herpes test back in india march 2008 it shows hsvs as positive.now it is negative.can some body help me here

you have no reason for more herpes testing if you aren't sexually active.

Like grace said if you have never had sex including oral sex you won't have genital herpes. If that is not the case then wait 3-4 months after the incident of the sexual encounter and get tested.

The local doctor may have been right.  I have a few bumps from a yeast infection I am battling.

Hi Grace and mistakeguy

thank you for your valuable answers.Right now i am in USA.I dont want to go back to the indian doc again.when i was diagioniesed in india he said it is very mild you can even marry like that.

Now i dont want any indian prescription.

Shall i go for HSV1 and HSV2 again?

When i went to local hospital in usa she said it is because of the wet on the penis like that.

You please suggest for the tests again..

if you are a virgin and have never received oral sex either, you can't have genital herpes.

A visual diagnosis is wrong about a 1/3 of the time even in the best practitioners. Odds are you were wrongly diagnosed initially.

I am a little confused on your post.  I can't say much about the results as I am not trained.  However, it is the right test.  The doctor in india could not be trained or very well versed with Herpes information.  Would be best to get both HSV-1 and HSV-2 checked unless you know you are positive for HSV-1.

1) Yes possibly

2) Wait for Grace to respond on this.

3) Was the test a type specific as well?  What was the result?  Do you remember?  Are you in the US now?
