oral herpes??

Hi,

Recently i had a raised red bump form on my low lip which was a little sore, I believe I may have caused it myself from constantly biting my lip from stress. I have the tendency to constantly lick my liips too so they are very dry at the moment. After I popped the bump, it had some clear liquid and a little red blood sort of like a normal blister on your hand and it cleared and went away within 2 days, it was hardly noticeable when it was there.

A day later I now have a small cut/missing skin (its not really a straigt line) on the my lower lip closer to the corner of my mouth and also a tiny red bump, like pin head size below it just above the lip line. I popped the tiny red bump, it felt sort of like a pimple, and again a little bit of blood and clear liquid came out but nothing extravagant... it doesnt hurt when i move my mouth at all or really when i touch it, now that I have popped it.

So my question is, could I be showing symptoms of oral herpes and if I did have oral herpes could the symptoms be so mild, like this, or is this just my anxiety? I know i could get a blood test done but would have to wait 3 months. I recently had a full STD test a few months back but came back negative.

Thanks,

recurrences can, not newly acquired infections.

Hi Grace,

Sorry for asking but to clarify does this sound like a typical herpes outbreak, do cold sores usually appear and heal within a matter of days??

Thanks again

the best thing to do is to be seen and get it looked at. sounds like it's too late for a lesion culture since it's been picked at and popped.
