herpes or condylox

HI, about 1 1/2 weeks ago, I noticed some genital warts on my anus.  I went to my GP and she said that they where warts and gave me condylox gel but told me not to use too much.

I went home and started putting the gel on the warts.  It didnt' appear to be doing anything so I did apply more.  They were quite small. After two days, they were gone.  On the 2nd day, I noticed a red bump on my genitals that I also applied condylox to.   I had some pain during the first three days of application.   On the 4th day ( the dya of rest ), I started to get more and more pain accompanied by a bad smell from that area.

On the 5th day, I called the doctor becuase the area had become very red and smelled bad, and was leaking fluid.   She said that she couldn't tell what was going on.

She had me sit in a stitz bath 3 times a day and apply bactrim / desitin ( baby rash cream ) to the affected area.  I also took cipro to avoid infection.  She said taht the small pimple on scrotum looked herpetic but she wasn't sure.

I haven't had unprotected sex at all this year.  Only touching etc.

After two days of using the sitz / desitin / antibiotics, my anus region is settling down but the area where I applied the condylox appears to have blistered some but isn't painful.  I popped the pimple on  the scrotum and it is almost healed in one day.

10 years ago - I had a similar sore - the doctor tested for herpes and it was negative.  She gave me some antiobiotics / and cream and it cleared up.  She did a blood test later that year which turned up negative.

My question is it possible that this was all caused by condylox / bacterial infection?  Or could it have been herpes that I spread from the sore to the anus?

I didn't experience lymph node swelling, fever or any other symptoms.    I am just confused by this all.   After 4 days of the antiobiotics, cream, and desitin, i don't have pain and the blisters from the condylox are almost gone.   Anyone shed any light?

The good thing is that the genital warts are gone for now. hahah
