herpes tissue test
just saw a dermatoligist, he clipped off a piece of possible herpes cluster down below with scissor to test the tissue for hsv-2. How reliable is a tissue test? If I have had tpe-1 hsv on my lip for years. would a tissue on possible new infection down below be able to decifer if its type 1 or 2 down below?

He is biopsying the skin, and that should be able to tell if its herpes or not. If he asked them to type it, they should be able to determine if its type 1 or 2, but if you had a pre-existing hsv1 infection, this is most likely type 2, if its herpes.
