initial outbreak showing less than 36 hours after transmission?

i'm a female. and i'm currently awaiting results for swabs for both herpes and staph.
i've had 2 opposite opinions from 2 different doctors. one was sure it was a staph infection in the inner vagina (although uncommon) and one was sure it was herpes. i've been researching on the internet and the symptoms from both are overwhelmingly similar. so some opinions would be appreciated as this waiting period is very scary.

i've only been sexually active (oral or genital) with two people.
i've only had intercourse with one person - two times. both times, a condom was used.
the last time i had intercourse with that one person was 5 months ago.
i have had no indication of bumps or sores in the genital or oral area until now.

on wednesday evening, i performed oral sex on the guy that i'm seeing.
there was no visible sores around his mouth and from what i could tell, none on his genitals either.
by thursday afternoon i was showing flu-like symptoms - the onset of a sore throat, feverish, headaches, dizziness, and very swollen glands.
by friday morning i felt a cluster of bumps on my genitals, they were very painful all day so i went to a clinic that day. i was told that 75% it wasn't herpes, but a staph infection from something like a tampon, sex toy, fingers, (something irritating). at that point i was relieved. i was prescribed antibiotics (cephalexin 250mg) and have been taking them for three days yet there is not much improvement.

by the next evening my fever had gotten extreme, along with muscle pains, and pains reminicent of menstrual cramping in the lower back, legs, and abdomen. at that point i was taken into the hospital where the doctor there looked at the sores and told me that he think it's much more probable that it's herpes.. however he said that's he's fairly certain that because of the timing, it was from my first sexual partner.

right now the sores are still very inflamed and painful, both doctors said it looked rather painful for herpes.
and i've been having yellow-orangey-brown discharge and a lot of burning while urination.

so, any opinions as soon as you can would be highly appreciated.
do you think it's herpes? what type?
and if so, which partner do you think i contracted it from?
i trust my first partner a lot more, so i'm thinking if it's herpes it has to be from the oral sex.
how likely do you think it is for genital sores to appear less than 36 hours after giving oral sex?
also, if it is staph, should the antibiotics be working faster than this?

thanks for your time.

thank you so much for such a fast response. i highly appreciated it.

my pants never came off at all, no nakedness was involved or genital contact was involved.
just out of curiousity, to clarify, someone who carries herpes and is "shedding" can transmit the disease through touching??

they took a blood test not at the clinic, but at the hospital they took a blood sample.
yes they did do a culture for herpes AND staph on friday, when the sores were most inflamed so the doctor said the results should be definitive. this waiting period is just really stressful.

i understand that this may not be newly acquired for me but i've read that initial outbreaks are usually the most severe and i feel like i would've noticed something this extreme in the past..

also, do you have any idea of how soon the antibiotics for staph should be coming into effect if that's what it is?

If you performed oral and he didn't perform oral on you, you wouldn't have contracted anything in your genital area from the encounter.  Now if there was nakedness involved and genital to genital contact without actual penetration - then yes you could've contracted something from him - risk is very low but it's there. Same if he was fingering you, anything on his fingers bacteriawise could've infected you.

That all said - this still could be genital herpes. Just because this is the first time you've noticed symptoms, doesn't mean it's anything newly acquired for you.  More testing is in order.  Did they do a herpes blood test at all on you?  Did they culture your vaginal discharge to look for bacteria?  Did they do a culture of your lesions down yonder too for anything?
