poison ivy or herpes

Quick question.. I had been dating a girl for approximately 3 months.  We had sex on a regular basis (4x a week) and probably had 4-5 unprotected events total.  This is a fellow co-worker who was in a long term relationship (same as me) before we started dating.  About 2 weeks after we quit having sex (i moved) I was at home deer hunting and hunting bird dogs.  (This was at the end of December)  I was out in the woods and could obviously be exposed to poison ivy.  I woke up the next morning with yellow blisters on the base of my penis and in my pubic area.  Initially I just associated this with poison ivy because I had been out in the woods and had touched my penis while peeing.  I have had shingles before (Yeah I am 24, and I got them on my back when I was 21) and needless to say it was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.  Nothing helped that (cream, sprays, calamine, etc), so when I put calamine on the rash/blisters the itching went away.  Everything went away and I didn't think much about it, but then I started worrying about the possibility of herpes after looking up HPV info.  I am going this friday for blood work (has been 12 weeks or so since our last encounter), but I wanted to see what other people thought it could be.  I have worried myself to death, but the blisters did not start out as little white bumps (looking like pimples) and I had no other pain.  Any help would be much appreciated, and the person I was with never had any signs as I had performed oral on her multiple times.  I know this doesn't mean she isn't contagious, but I haven't spoke with her about it b/c I am waiting on my results since I obviously work for the same company. I haven't had any other symptoms either.  Thanks

At this point getting a blood test to see what your status is is the best course of action. I assume you didn't follow up on these symptoms at the time from your post so nothing else you can do.
