Just so I cover all the bases, I do wash her privates when she's in the shower with me. But I don't know if my hands might be contaminated because I wash my privates as well. UGh this is a whole mess of creepiness I know.
What if I'm not as diligent about handwashing as I should be. I try to wash my hands, but what if every once in a while after touching myself intimately (if I scratch myself, or adjust myself)I forget to wash my hands, and then I change diapers and somehow have physical contact with their genitals, if this all occurs in short amount of time, does that put them at risk?
get yourself tested so you can stop worrying about herpes!!! sounds like you've read about herpes and have started focusing on it perhaps a little too much?
we call genital herpes a sexually transmitted infection for good reason - it takes sexual contact for the most part to transmit it. everyone in a household should have their own towel, washcloth, toothbrush, razor and body puff and never share them. very common germs are easily transmitted through sharing them including cold and flu germs as well as common skin infections. washing towels/washcloths before someone else uses them is fine though . Herpes is easily killed with soap. Unless you are using the same wash cloth on your genital area and then on your daughter's in the shower, it isn't an issue. the virus is not transmitted in the shower unless you are doing so ( which you shouldn't be doing anyways regardless of your herpes status - you have your own wash cloth and she has hers ).
