Confused and scarred... please help!

ok where do i start... In 2008 I had barium enima test done and everything was fine.... then I started seeing blood when i wiped and i went to the dr. and he said i had hemmroids but he also did a CEA blood test for me and i scored under 5 which was great.... now however something else is happening and i am scared...

For the past 2 weeks i have been having soft small bowel movements and it's not dairrhea... not too thin but not thick either and it's very soft.... this morning however (sorry for being so graphic but i am scared) when i passed stool it was green, soft and broken up, small, think and smelly and not much... my stool hardly even smell because i dont consume sweet stuff because i dont like it.... I also drink about 10-12 glasses of water daily due to the fact that 2 years ago i had a kidney stone and i am very scared of getting back another one. I also have a bowel movement everyday...

I am very scarred as to why this is happening to me... can anyone help? what should i do? does anyone know why is there a change in my bowel movment?

You are obviously very concerned about the possibility of having cancer, but at your age it is extremely rare.  Also, I know its hard to think rationally when all these things are happening to you, but I'm sure you have been reading symptom websites and automatically jump to the worst. You must remember that cancer ( specially gi cancers) are very silent until very late stages and you say that this started in 2008, that's 3 years ago! And you are still here! Is the blood bright red? Is it on the stool? If so is it mixed in the stool or only on the surface?
As far if the stress can cause all this? Of course, have you ever heard the expression " I was so nervous I almost pooped my pants" or "you scared the crap out of me". This is all because second to your brain, your digestive system has the most nerve endings and neurotransmiters etc, it is sometimes referred to as "the second brain", so when you are stressed it causes the normally smooth contraction to become sparadotic. Causing the food to move too quickly through your system, not giving it time to properly digest. Same reason you had green stool which is bile from your liver, that didn't have time to act on the food.  The catch 22 problem with ibs and people like us that are easily anxious, is that the stress causes the abnormal bowels and the abnormal bowels cause more stress, make sense?
I suggest you find a good GI SPECIALIST ( you can read doctor reviews online) and ask him to run the test I mentioned before, also there is blood test for chron's and ulcerative colitis. I think if you get these test it will give you piece of mind. Also continue the yogurt,it has helped me also. Eat SLOWLY and chew your food alot to help your gi tract digest. Ask the doctor about antispamatics (made me worse) or antidepressants like amitriptyline (worked wonders for me)these medicines take a few weeks to start working , add more fruits and vegies to your diet. STAY OFF WEB MD AND OTHER MEDICINE SITES, most important try to calm down ( go get a massage, distract yourself) strongly recommend you excersice. Turn the lights off when you go to the bathroom and just flush it away without looking, check weekly not daily.  Good luck. You don't have anything to worry about!

I was 30 this year.. and i got the Barium because when i wipe after i passed stool i saw some blood and i was super panicky and the dr. sent me for it just to ease my mind. The green stool was just for 1 day and now it's back to nomal... light brown, tan.

I started with probiotic yogurt yesterday so i hope to see some results with that soon... should i be worried? Is there anything to worry about?

also i forgot to mention i am really stressed these days... more so about this... will this have an effect on me and will it continue because of how stressed i am?

Hey hope your doing OK! I'm not a doctor by any means, but but because of my symptoms I have done a ton of research online.  I like you start to worry to much and hesitate to believe doctors. What symptoms made you get the barium test? Also, how old are you ( makes a huge difference). Have you had any other test done? It sounds a lot like my symptons,  I've had soft stools like you discribe for over a year and a half... are yours also light in color like tan or yellow.  Green stools could mean that your food is going through to quickly, also the soft stools are indicative of that as well.  I would suggest ask a GI DOCTOR to do a colonoscopy and upper gi endoscopy at the same time. To rule out IBD and celiac or diverculitis. If all is clear I would ask your doctor to put you on an ibs medicine. I just started amitriptyline a month ago and for the last week I've been having great bowel movements. Also, my endoscopy biopsy came back positive for H. Pylori, I started treatment yesterday. It really sounds like just rapid transit to me ... does it seem to get worse when you stress? Hope this helps... good luck.

I don't think you have much to worry about.  Why did you get the barium enema in 2008?  If this continues I would recommend that you see a doctor agin.
