I have had some stomach issues since January after coming down with a bug after a period of stress. After eradicating H pylori, which was detected, my stomach continued to hurt. I have not got an official diagnosis but I believe that my symptoms point to IBS. I have been going to my GP since January about these issues but haven't received any definite answers. I started taking antispasmodics such as duspatalin and buscopan and they have worked really well for the pain which has more or less gone away except for when I have had a night out on the town but that was to be expected! My bowel movements are fairly regular as well, only alcohol and some spicy or greasy foods have given me temporary diarrhoea.
The main issue I have is with fatigue which I am not sure is related to IBS but wanted to check whether it could be related. Recently, I have often felt very tired and have found it difficult to remember things and organise my thoughts. Has anyone else experienced this? I raised this question in the General Health forum (
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/General-Health/Unexplained-fatigue-for-months-IBS-related/show/2274775#post_10948119) but the only suggestions given were about candida overgrowth which seems to be totally psuedoscience. It could also be a mental health issue brought about by so many months of pain, discomfort and uncertainty but it has felt more like extreme tiredness, without necessarily feeling depressed, so I guess that is what's throwing me.
The other thing that is IBS-related is that I often (but not always) have a film appearing in the surface of the water after passing urine or a BM (which, like I said, is usually solid and otherwise normal). I have read that this is typical of IBS but I wanted to know more about it. Is it undigested fat, as some claim, or mucous from the intestine? According to this source (http://ibs.about.com/od/symptomsofib1/a/IBS-And-Mucus-In-Stool.htm), mucous is a benign symptom but I wanted more information.
