can anyone help?

Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone would be able to help me. I was wondering if my symptoms sound like IBS or if not does anyone else have any ideas?

I feel hungry all the time and it seems like nothing i do can satisfy my hunger. when i have a meal i sometimes feel like its pointless because i know no matter how much i eat i will still feel hungry afterwards. I would not say i particuarly desire to eat lots, i just have a large feeling of hunger. often i will end up feeling weak after having eaten for ages and i still feel hungry.

What's worse is the 'bloating' that happens if i don't eat enough food (which is almost every day now) it also happens before i eat anything, therefore i don't think it is caused by an allergy. it hurts sometimes if i leave it too late to eat, but its the bloating thats worse. it seems that no matter what i do once my stomoch blows up there is nothign i can do to stop it. i wouldnt neccessarily call it bloating though but rather a distention of my stomach (as i do not feel gassy).

Does anyone know what this could be? Its really starting to affect my life :( i can't go out without it becoming a problem. i can't wear tight clothes anymore so i dont feel i can dress up and look good. I went to the doctors the other week and she just said it was just common bloating and suggested i drink peppermint tea and have regular snacks.

I took her advice rather dissappointedly, even though i didn't believe she was right and neither snacking or drinking peppermint tea has helped. I am very sure the bloating is linked to feeling hungry (thoughi do not understand it) the doctor didnt seem to have heard of anything like that before. she seemed to think that i just have lots of hunger receptors or something, but i really feel like the two are linked.

I wondered if maybe it was IBS or even a peptic ulcer. ive tried mild over the counter anacids but these dont seem to work.  i also experience bad gas now whereas before it was almost never and my bowel habits arent as regular, so i dont know if this is linked?? this is really starting to ruin my life. i am going on holiday in a couple of weeks and have been dying to wear a bikini as i havent in ages. it was supposed to be my first holiday away with my boyfriend and this is threatening to ruin everything. can anyone help??? thank you in advance.

Also, while peppermint can help gas, it's not good for acidity, if you are indeed experiencing an acid problem prompting you to take those over the counter anti-acids, so you might not drink too much of the peppermint tea.  You should get the gas, acidity and irregular bowel habits checked with a GI specialist, who hopefully will check your gallbladder for stones & function as well as your gastrointestinal tract for any abnormalities.

I don't hold the same values as you, as the Bible tells me to dress modestly, but in regards to your frustrating medical symptoms- some things to get ruled out/confirmed would be-
diabetes, because you can feel hungry and not satisfied with that because your body is not utilizing the fuel from the food the way it should

hyperthyroidism, because if your thyroid is in hyperdrive, your metabolism is going too fast and you are in need of more fuel much more quickly

tape worm- because if a parasite is eating up the fuel that's supposed to be helping you, that would, I believe, cause a lot of hunger

Do you have any other symptoms, such as abnormality with your menses?

You  might do a search on Cushing's syndrome, polycystic syndrome, and metabolic syndrome and see if any of those sounds like what you might be suffering from.
