I have a random quick question
Can previous kidney inflammation cause future kidney problems?
A few years back I was having a really horrible summer, near the middle and end of the summer I started suffering severe kidney pain to the point that I couldn't even lay down comfortably. I would just keep moving in my seat as well it was so uncomfortable.
I never did get the problem looked at, just waited it out and drank a lot of Gatorade (as recommendations from my mother).
I've noted occassionaly some similar pain to the kidney pain I'd felt then, but it always passed quickly and I never thought of it any further.
Right now I have this pain on my right side near my ribs. It's not similar pressure to the kidney problem (and I can sleep comfortably), but it's been re-occurring, and I'm thinking it's either a muscle issue (which it more likely is) or some organ there that's messed up.
So can previous kidney inflammation/problems cause future problems?
Thank You :)
Just as an FYI Gaterade is actually bad for kidneys because of its high sodium and potassium content. Great to replenish nutrients lost through sweat, but kidneys in distress have a hard time processing potassium and adding extra will add to the work load of the kidney. So if you do get kidney problems again - go for pure water.
It is a simple blood test to judge kidney function. May be worth the peace of mind to get one done.
