I was answering a remark by doublemint and mistakenly took that to mean that having 'just' a band 41 meant you had Lyme.

My mistake in mis-reading. The Igenex 'positive' should have been my clue, but it wasn't. :(

Yes, you are right. The information I have points to positive.

I have looked at the Lyme assoc Aust Interpreting Blood Test list and even if 41 is not lyme related, the other bands, still give a result of 'strong positive'

So you think this could be a negative, no to having lyme???

The 41 by itself isn't considered adequate for being a positive for Lyme.  It MAY be associated with Lyme but it's also associated with some very common conditions--- even gum disease.

" The band at 41 kDa corresponds to Bb's flagella (the whip like organelles used for locomotion -- Bb has several) is one of the earliest to show up on the Western blots of Lyme disease patients. But for some reason it is also the most commonly appearing band in control subjects.

This may be due to the fact that many people are exposed to spirochetes at some time in their lives and so their sera might cross react with this protein."

Not ALL spirochetes are Bb. The spirochetes that are found in the mouth are a different kind but will still cross-react.

I belong to several FB Lyme groups and have the chart that deciphers this and an LLMD ( lyme literate Dr) would say she is positive.

I would suggest going to our association website ILADS.org and email them to ask them for an LLMD (Lyme literate doctor) closest to where you live. An LLMD can be any kind of doctor but one who does more research on the illness.  She needs treatment ASAP.  While on the site, go to Burascano's treatment guidelines and read up on the signs and symptoms of Lyme. Knowledge is power.

You may also want to read up on why mainstream doctors don't believe in Lyme. Google Infectious Disease Dr vs LLMD to get the full picture but in a nutshell , the CDC follows the infectious Disease Dr Association (IDSA) guidelines and not our association ILADS. Its a big problem.

Let us know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

Just another thought.  On Facebook look up lyme questions.  That is a lyme group with people who are really very knowledgeable and someone there will for sure be able to answer your question.  You must get the correct answer to your question because if your daughter has lyme it must be treated sooner rather than later.  The longer you wait the worse the lyme will become for her and it will not magically disappear on its own.  Push hard for your daughter.

I'm pretty sure you are definitely a positive on band number 41.  I don't know what that band is - either lyme or bartonella.   Make sure you are dealing with a lyme literate Dr or else you may be receiving some advice that will hurt you down the road.
