Can Lyme be transmitted through sex?

Bumping a question gibsongal just posted at the end of a long, old thread below:

"one more thought on this old thread.. is it sexually transmitted?

my husband had lyme last year and just as he was getting better i started getting bad..?"

I checked with our sadly ignorant friends on the CDC website and they say no way, can't be, never mind that syphilis is also caused by a spirochetal bacterium (corkscrew shaped bug).

Anybody got thoughts on this?  It's a very good question.

i really think the things can live in sperm..just my opinion, i read a few instances on line where the woman swore she did not ever get a tic bite.    and science that showed spirochetes in sperm..

I read somewhere that it has definitely been found in human semen.
Therefore I think it can.

I have been told nobody knows for sure. Not very helpful to those of us with partners.
