Another tick, another disease! Ehrlichiosis/Anaplasmosis

Ticks:  the bugs that keep on giving.

Some poor little tick gave its life to burrow into my leg in June, and I find out today it left me a present:  Ehrlichiosis, aka Anaplasmosis.  It appears it can be quite serious, but I seem past that stage.  So now the antibiotics are to begin ... again.  This time, doxycycline.

===>QUESTION:  Has anyone else had this disease, and did it give you stomach pains, like sharp cramps?

Thanks for all advice/comments.

I have never been tested for it so I don't know.  I hope it is easier to eradicate than the other tick-related diseases.

Dear Jackie,

I do not have this disease but, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, abdominal pain, cough, diarrhea, sore and aching joints, and also change in mental status are all side effects that are extremely common. I’m sorry to say that I don't know much about the treatment for it other than the antibiotics... side effects can always be tricky and i really don't want to tell you to do something that might make it worse... but when things flair up for me, and they do A LOT, I just try to treat the symptoms as best i can. Possibly try using a hot water bottle or heating pad? I personally like using the heating pad patches that u can get at the drugstore.. Like for backs n necks? They have them for menstrual cramps too, and that might get a little expensive, but it stays on and u can get around easier without anyone really noticing and ur not stuck plastered to the couch or in bed. I hope you feel better soon! And sorry I couldn’t be more of a help to you!
