Doubts...

Hey everyone,
Well the past few days I've been feeling significantly better.  The brain fog and dizziness has lifted and the pain has been way less.  I actually have felt human.  This is great of course, but also at the same time it worries me.    How can one go from feeling so terrible and then over night feel much better?  I don't think I'd be so concerned if my sx were more ongoing and chronic.  I get so scared over my patterns... relapse and remitt.  It really makes it hard to get MS out of my head.   May  2007-sx lasted for about 5-6 months.  Let up and went away until March 09.  I've currently been sick for 2 months.  That first week was hell.  I could barely move I was so weak and dizzy.  Now that my sx are easing up again it has me worried.

I know that lyme can act in this way, but MS is known for acting in this way.  However, I have had 2 years of Clean MRI's, and Neuro exams have been normal (besides the brisk reflexes).  My sx are full body and they are def. fleeting which I know isn't characteristic of MS.  I'm trying to talk myself out of it, but I get so stuck on the fact that what ever I have relapses and remitts.   Should I be worried?  Or can I comfortably lay this MS worry to rest????

  Thanks in advance.

Well I spoke too soon!  It's back....  the brain fog and dizziness is still away, but the pain and burning is back, and twitching.  What a roller coaster!!!!    I wish it would just make it's mind up already!!!  GOSH!!!

I just posted about this very issue.  I have cycles of about 6-8 weeks of better, worse, better, worse - for about 2.5 years!  It drives me nuts.  I think I can let my MS worries go now.  I have tested pos. for Lyme and this MRI I'm getting Tues. will prob. come up clear other than that one lesion I've had hanging out for years.  Clear lumbar puncture too.

In other words, I do the same thing.  Fluctating all the time.  It does make you feel crazy, but it's not in your head - our symptoms are real.

Thank you for writing me this.  It means a lot to hear this and to know that I'm not strange for worrying so much about this.  I'm sure it isn't, but that little inner peice of me is saying "what if".  Drives me crazy!  Just when I'm sure I've moved on or dropped it... something else comes up and makes me reconsider.

Anyways,
  thanks for your time.
   I REALLY do appreicate it!

It took me years and multiple neuro's to let go of the MS idea.  So I totally understand. In RRMS the acute episodes do not usually last 5-6 months.  They are much shorter in duration.  PPMS has continuous symptoms so you would not have periods of normalcy.  Also keep in mind there is typically objective neurological signs that can be seen by neurologists during an exam when someone has MS.  I would try to lay it to rest but I know that is not an easy thing to do with all these weird symptoms.
