I just searched the internet for
ivermectin treatment for lyme disease
and got quite a few hits.
I don't recall if anyone here has taken ivermectin, but different docs roll different ways. There is so far not a one-size-fits-all treatment for Lyme and its coinfections, for a lot of reasons.
Lymies take ivermectin to get rid of parasites. I was going to try it but my insurance wouldn't cover it. I never heard of it for Babesia specifically.
Many lymies do have parasites which they say continue to make them feel bad.
Hi Jackie, thanks and glad to see you back!!
I researched it specifically for Babesia, but I didn't really get any real solid leads. I'll research your quote later and see what I get.
Thanks Mojogal! I'm thinking that I have Protomyxoa and it is apparently being treated with Ivermectin. There is not much science behind this Protpmyxoa character and nobody can test for it except the lab that supposedly discovered it, so I don't really know if it is real or not. But if I could take Ivermectin for Babesia instead of the Mepron, then it should be be of benefit either way (if I really have Babesia, that is). Not been getting much of a response with the Mepron.
I didn't get any dramatic response from Mepron for babesia, just gradual progress over months, and it worked fine. The mix of co-infections blurs the whole situation, from symptoms to meds to you name it. Depending also on what mix of coinfections one has, the symptom reaction could be all over the place.
Did you have a positive Babesia test? I just don't know that any of my symptoms can be tracked back to Babesia i.e. I don't have frequent nightsweats or airhunger.
I've been on the Mepron for three months now and I don't think that I'm getting anything from it. I was actually debating quitting it. I don't like to take medication just to be taking it, particularly the Mepron. How many months did you take it?
Of course I tested negative for Bartonella and Babesia through Medical diagnostics. Tested positive for Anaplasma and Mycoplasma. Need to get some more coinfection testing. Haven't been tested for Ehrlichia. Chlamydia pneumonia was negative as was CMV. HH6 IgG antibodies are quite high to be latent and IgM was not tested. EBV appears to be latent, from my eyes. Doctor is too busy to be much help (one of the few LLMDs in the entire midwest). It is a mess! I thought an idea of what was involved would make it easier to sort through, but it really doesn't.. It just complicates everything.
It's not unusual to get negative co-infection tests. A good LLMD can treat based on symptoms.
