Symptoms

Hi there, I was diagnosed with Lyme on Monday, still pending blood test result.  I think i got it on a trip to Georgia about 5 weeks ago.  of course not sure when and where i got it, but I live in Tennessee where apparently it is not a problem? The doc put me on meds , anti biotic teice a day, but it seems to be getting worse.  The chills and sweats leave me soaked, the headaches are unbelievably painful, and the joint pain is horrible.  I have never experienced anything like this.  Can anyone give me an idea about when the symptoms may begin to ease up just a little?
Thanks so much

Plenty of Lyme in Georgia.  So glad you found a doc in TN willing to treat you!  Many would refuse, following the CDC head-in-the-sand statements that there's no Lyme in the South.

The chills and sweats are signs of Babesia.  I had chills and sweats when I first got infected, and it was years later before I learned I had Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella.  You need to get checked out for Babesia or you won't get better from the Lyme.

Tests are unreliable and many test false negative.  On the chills and sweats alone, some LLMDs would make a clinical diagnosis and prescribe anti-Babesia meds.

Hello,

First I need to say that Lyme exists in every state. What you are experiencing is very common. Many lyme people when they go on antibiotics have what is called a herx. This is a worsening of the symptoms because your body is trying to rid itself of the toxins from a die off of the bugs that the meds are killing. Google herxheimer reaction. If not a herx this can be some of the normal side effects of Lyme. Some people deal with everyday.

May I ask what kind of antibiotic you are taking and what type of doctor you are seeing? You may need to see an LLMD ( Lyme literate medical Dr) to get the best results. We have all been there.

Lyme is a terrible disease but you want to catch it quickly. I got diagnosed 20 years late and have permanent nerve damage.
