"IMPROVING ANTIBIOTIC PRESCRIBING/STEWARDSHIP"

"IMPROVING ANTIBIOTIC PRESCRIBING/STEWARDSHIP"

Perhaps the single most important action needed to greatly slow
down the development and spread of antibiotic-resistant infections
is to change the way antibiotics are used.

1. Up to half of antibiotic use in humans and much of antibiotic use in
animals is unnecessary and inappropriate  and makes everyone less safe.

2. Stopping even some of the inappropriate and unnecessary  use of
antibiotics in people and animals would help greatly in slowing down
the spread of resistant bacteria.

3. This commitment to always use antibiotics appropriately and safely—
only when they are needed  to treat disease, and to choose the right antibiotics
and to administer them in the right way in every case—is known as antibiotic stewardship.

"Using whole genome sequencing, scientists have found conclusive evidence that a type of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) that caused human infections in Denmark came from livestock – adding to concerns that food animals are a significant MRSA reservoir for human infections."

"“This study ends any debate,” said Slaughter in a statement Wednesday. “The extreme overuse of antibiotics in livestock is endangering human health.”"

Entertaining to a point, I thought it interesting to see that Carbone's biggest detractor, Keerti Shah was paid by the vaccine manufacturers.  If I could call fire down from above, the man would be pretty crispy right now.  I thought I myself was going to burst into flame when I got to that point of the book, I was so incensed.  I'd start a petition to get research into SV40 restarted on whitehouse.gov, but don't think I'm articulate enough, and don't have enough connections to get many signatures.  I know, this is a Lyme forum, but I have previously expressed my somewhat wild idea that vaccines play a role in Lyme-like disease, especially so for those who have never been bitten by a tick and who are clinically diagnosed, meaning, there's no positive result for borrelia.  Not all such cases, but some.  The petition would never fly anyway, too many people getting diagnosed with stuff that's only symptoms of the underlying problem, too much money to be made off us!  It's very frustrating, because I know.

"I'm not arguing with your point cave, just saying, the study will not end debate here. "

I  know you aren't and I agree with you about the study being refuted by many others. Lobbyists are bound to get rich from this! Not to mention Others in High Places. (grin)

It's a form of entertainment for me to watch one 'scientist' disagree with another. LOL

"“This study ends any debate,” said Slaughter in a statement Wednesday. “The extreme overuse of antibiotics in livestock is endangering human health.”"

No matter how irrefutable the evidence, there will be people in the NIH, FDA, and other government regulatory agencies that will declare it is not so.  Case in point, the role of SV40 from polio vaccines in human cancer.  Everyone should read the book "The Virus and the Vaccine".  The govt will bring in half baked scientists and do half baked epidemiological studies to refute the truth and declare their evidence as the truth.

I myself know the truth, I see it everyday in my father who got the 1955 Salk vaccine, and in myself as I received at least one shot of the Salk circa 1962.  Even the dogs that have been in my father's house often develop tumors!  The tumor suppressor protein p53 has a myriad of biological functions other than tumor suppression!

Michele Carbone and another researcher at Baylor have put together what anyone in their right minds would consider irrefutable evidence of SV40 in the polio vaccine causing the increased cancer rates.  Yet the government will still deny it.

I'm not arguing with your point cave, just saying, the study will not end debate here.  Maybe in Denmark, but not here.

You can bet your bippy (that shows my age) that the food animals are getting a LOT of antibiotics. And will continue to do so for another three years. And so far it's voluntary:

" The Natural Resources Defense Council called it "a free pass to industry" because it relies on voluntary cooperation, rather than binding regulations. The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future predicted that the relabeling exercise will fail to reduce antibiotic use because farmers may just continue to give animals the drugs at low doses for "disease prevention" instead."

Another way antibiotics become resistant is when doctors (yes, doctors) prescribe abx for conditions that an antibiotic won't  help.

And dermatologists continue to give antibiotics for zits on a teenager.

And then---- we have people who will stop their antibiotics when they start feeling better in spite of being told to finish the entire bottle.

So---- where do Lyme patients come in? I think absolutely nowhere on this continuum. Almost all of us take the full course and then some. (grin)

I had never thought about getting it through livestock. Thanks for that post. I have eating steroid free, hormone free for almost two years now but wasn't sure why. Just saw it was better to do.
