That sounds fairly 'normal' for Lyme, but nothing's normal with Lyme. Some people go into remission sooner but there are wide variations. Try not to put a time-table on your treatment but I do wish you luck with achieving a remission in less time.
Any idea how long I actually need to be on antibiotic rotations to beat it? I read an avg. of 4.7 years somewhere and that seems consistent with the time put in by my Lymies in group, but I would like to do it much faster! Anyone?
I recommend you contact lymedisease.org. They can give you a list of physicians who will diagnose and/or treat Lyme. Medicare has been known to harrass doctors who give extended treatment for Lyme, so many LLMDs do not take Medicare. However, CA has laws protecting doctors, so perhaps you can find a Medicare doc who will at least give long term oral antibiotics.
If lymedisease.org's list isn't helpful, I encourage you to find a local Lyme support group. They often know local docs who will quietly treat Lyme patients. They can also warn you off the wanna-bes.
I would go to the ILADS.org website and there is a contact us. Ask them for referrals in your area. There is also a website called WhatisLyme that had a doctor referral section. If all else fails you can Google Lyme and where you live.
Good luck.
