numbness/tingling

I have found that when I have numbness and or tingling it is related to position.  For example... my hands/arms go numb when I'm sleeping and it is releived when I change position or hang my hand off the bed.  Also I've noticed that when my toes/feet get numbish it is usually when I'm sitting for awhile like when I'm driving somewhere for awhile my toes/feet will feel numb and tingle when I get out and walk around.  It doesn't last that long once I get moving.  Then tonight I was sitting here and had my left foot propped up on the chair next to me.  I noticed it started going numb and tingling.  When I took it down it got better within a minute or so.

I'm not so sure I've had numbness/ tingling that has stayed or persisted regardless of position.  It usually goes away or changes when I change positon.

What does this mean or indicate?

Me too, when I first started to get the numb hands I would hang them over the side like you said, I went to the Doctor they said I had carpel tunnel in both wrists gave me cortisone shots that were painful, I got a little relief but not much I dont think I have carpel tunnel ,,it was obviously the Lyme, through the years all I was told I had hasnt been so..

Yep, when I have a "flare up", my nerves get really sensitive.  I have to move my feet constantly to keep the tingling/numbness down.  Right now, my elbow is killing me from typing (this has been going on for WEEKS).  I have typed for years, never this issue.  It just happens in waves...

I think it's compression of nerves/and or blood vessels or damage, inflammation of them.  It's like when your foot falls asleep from sitting on it.  However, I also believe we have a problem with our nerve signals so they are far more sensitive to these things.  Myself, I have had spine surgery and I also get the dead arms evey night so in this case it is probably nerve damage for me.
