checking in...

Hi everyone
just wanted to check in. I hope everyone is doing good. I have been on antimicrobial drops for 3 weeks and I'm not feeling too good. My feet hurt and I have lots of air hunger that comes and goes (some days I feel like I breathe fine and others it feels like I can't get a deep breathe or I "forget" to breathe). My latest symptom is calf tightness. I just started my last year of college and my walks to my classes are usually about 15 minutes with lots of stairs. After a few minutes of a moderare pace walk, my calfs feel tight and almost crampish (but doesn't go into a full cramp). Sometimes  my shins hurt too but not as often. When I sit down the pain pretty much goes away. But as soon as I get up and start walking, they get tight and painful on me. It seems to bother me most when I walk at a moderate/fast pace. Does anyone get something similiar to this?

I'm getting tested through igenex on tuesday. Does anyone know when I can expect the results?

Thanks!
-Sarah

I had similar leg problems for years during school, which for me was also a 15-20 minute walk.  Especially in the winter, I would get sharp foot/calf/shin pain, sometimes so bad that I'd worry about being able to make the distance.  Then within moments of sitting, the pain would quickly begin to subside.  I never saw a doctor about this, because I doubted there was much they could do about disappearing/reappearing leg pains, other than call me crazy.

The calf tightness I did not get until I was much more sick in 2007.  It was sort of like leg cramps, but felt like only part of the muscle was involved, if that makes any sense.

Treatment can stir up symptoms and make you feel worse.  Perhaps it is good that you've started on the drops instead of diving right into abx, since this is likely a more gentle route (I did the same, but did commence abx after 2 weeks).

Congrats on senior year, and I hope that your health cooperates.

3 weeks sounds right for Igenex.  When is your next appt?  Will the results be ready by then?
