Bob:  Good to know...cuz now my left ear is ringing!  It was my right ear but I guess my right ear is taking the day off.  Maybe I'll give the iron a few more days....

I do know about the magnesium and I'm taking a lot of it right now.

The Lyme bacteria doesn't feed off iron.  In fact they are able to use manganese in place of iron in many biological roles.  They like manganese so much that maps of high manganese in the ground water and a map of Lyme disease have some close correlations.

Gibson:

You know, I've been dealing with a high pitch ringing in my right ear now for about 3 months.  I've been to an Ear Nose Throat doctor, had my hearing tested, and tested for fluid, pressure, etc.  All normal.

Then, I was reading that anemia can cause tinnitus and I've had issues with low iron all my life.  So, I started taking iron supplements and within a few days, I noticed the ringing was less.  I also however, started feeling really crappy and didn't know why.  Then, I read on another forum where someone was saying that their LLMD said NOT to take iron because the lyme bacteria feed off of it.  So, I stopped taking it until I can see my lyme doc and have my iron levels checked.

I don't know if the ringing is a result of low iron or not in my case...I just thought I put my two cents in here!

chlorella sounds good although my concern is that it comes from Asia and after the nuke plant disaster in Japan, there is so much radiation, the tuna has radio istopes in it as well as the fact  that even butterflies are deformed.
so sad what we are doing to the planet.

Hat reduced mine a bit was chlorella. You need to get the "broken cell wall" type. I got it from Walgreen's website, but there are multiple brands on Amazon.  Capsules are better than loose powder. It is made from algae and tastes like it!

Lily-Yay!! You're back on Rocephin!  From the LLMD?

Gibsongal- I had really annoying tinnitus and it persisted after my antibiotics started for about 6 months. First it stopped coming during the afternoon. Then it stopped in the evening. Then, I hardly ever noticed it at night anymore. I was a bit startled today to realize my left ear had started ringing. That's when I realized I hadn't heard it in 2-3 weeks.

Mine sounds like high pitched electronic noise.  From what I have read, it isn't the ears. It is a neuro symptom of Lyme. The little buggars are messing with the hearing related nerves in the brain.  I read one guy who had it really bad one night and he said it sounded like an ambulance siren in his head.

I am about 2 1/2 weeks back on my Bicillin shots, and the last week I have felt a bit worse. More tired, more irritable, more rib soreness/pain, and some stomach pain coming back. I think my abx have hit their peak dosage and I am experiencing some die off and inflammation. My right ear has some low grade buzzing right now. I am happy to resume trestment...not so happy to start feeling worse. :(

Wish I knew why it happens. Gathering of spirochetes? Maybe tinnitus is the sounds of spirochete partying. Or in case of my Rocephin IV, screaming for their lives! Lol.  Okay, not funny.

Mine is only in left ear. For me it started during the summer of 1999 with  with bunch of other neurological symptoms. They went away, and came back from time to time, but does not last very long as it was during 1999. This past winter, it came back in full force.

It is hard for me to describe to doctors what my tinnitus sounds like because, I am deaf from birth to begin with but I have heard some sounds(well, the loud ones). I do not know if they sounds like cicadas or crickets :)

For me, they varied in intensity, kind of noises, music-like, or type of sounds--they changes all the time. They are not kind of tinnitus you get with hearing loss-I have it in both ear, it is like low white noises, you can tune it out.

With lyme tinnitus--i can't tune it out and it is so incessant!  I can't sleep when it is going on.

Sometimes it seems to radiating out from left ear to throughout the head.

During my first round of Rocephin IV back in June, tinnitus intensifies at the beginning of treatment, then abate a lot, and they dont happen often or with such intensity. I just start second round of Rocephin IV yesterday, tinnitus worsen now, but i am looking forward for it to abate a lot soon.
