I've used an OTC nasal spray but not a prescription one. Benadryl makes me sleepy so I take it at night before bed. I'm pretty sensitive to antihistamines so one dose can keep my allergies at bay the whole next day too.
I love the NeilMed nasal solution ! It is so easy to use ! I use that, along with Dr. Jernigan's "Allermac" formula.
Have you tried the nasal spray? I think it works wonders. The problem with benedryl, other than side effects for me, is that I would suffer too much during the day time. I suspect the dose to my body is relatively minor, but not sure.
I have very bad spring allergies as well. I suffer during the day. I take benadryl at bedtime. Find out if your nose spray is absorbed systemically. Some of them just work in the nasal passages with little absorption.
Nasonex??? MY BEST FRIEND.. it does wonders BUT....
it is not good to be taking a corticosteroid. I asked my doctor because my fiance does take Palmicort and Sabutimol for his asthma, he said they are ok… but the nasal stuff isn’t the greatest, because it is a corticosteroid. He recommend a nasal rinse by NeilMed (not the teapot) it is fantastic!!! As long as you are faithful two times a day. Its kind of a hassle but it does work. I have sinus cysts that have formed. I wouldn’t be surprised if it has something to do with my nasal spray usage
