I am a male in my mid-40's. I woke up nine days ago to a very uncomfortable burning sensation when trying to pee. A couple of days later, with symptoms not improving and the feeling of the left lymph node in my groin being tender and slightly swollen, I visited an urgent care facility. They performed a urine test and blood test in their onsite lab. Both results came back totally clear. I was given doxycycline and told to take it for 10 days.
A couple of days later with no improvement in symptoms, I was able to see a urologist. He told me to discontinue doxycycline and put me on a 10 day regimen of Cipro. He also ordered a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis to see if there might be kidney stones. I have not exhibited any of the more common kidney stone symptoms like side or back pain.
A couple of days after this visit to the urologist, the pain was still there when I would pee, and I also noticed at this time that there would be some blood spotting at the end of the urine stream. Not anything significant, and mostly unnoticeable. It is particularly painful to go in the morning, where it sometimes can take several excruciating minutes for a flow to even start.
The same day I discovered the blood spotting (two days ago), I also developed pink eye in both eyes. So now nine days after the first symptom, it still is very painful to pee, I occasionally get some blood in the urine, I have two eyes with pink eye and the tenderness/swelling in the left groin lymph node is still somewhat present. I was on doxycycline for only two days before being taken off it, and have been on Cipro now for five days. I just had the CT scan done today, but no feedback yet. I also had a urine culture performed by the urologist last Friday, and no feedback on that either.
Does this sound like anything familiar to anyone? It is terrible how much this can consume your days, and throw you completely off course with work and home life. Suggestions please!
