4 weeks having spotting and cramping

I am 4 weeks pregnant and started having spotting yesterday. It was brown and only when I wiped at first. I would also have cramps off and on. Today the cramps got worse and the spotting a little heavier though still not a full period and only when I wipe. I went to the Doctor and they tested my quantative hcg levels. I am only at 14 which they said could be due to me being so early in my pregnancy or the start of a miscarriage. My cramps come and go though they really haven't been too bad since I laid down most the day. My bleeding is still there however and goes between reddish with a tinge of pink to black to brown. It is a little bit on a panty liner but again much lighter then a normal period. I go back to the doctor on Sunday to test my levels again but in the mean time I am really scared. Does anyone have any experience similar to this?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I miscarried 3wks ago. I went in for my 12wk u/s but the baby had stopped growing at 9 1/2 wks and there was no heartbeat. I'm so sorry for you. It is so devastating.  I'm starting to feel better emotionally but I still haven't gotten my period but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will come soon.
We're all here for you if you need support. It's a very difficult time and sometimes the people you know and love don't understand exactly how you feel and it can be so comforting to chat to other women who get how painful the loss is.
Take care.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I just recently miscarried last friday, I had the same symptoms as you but eventually had really bad cramping and back aches.  Later that night I passed tissue and lots of blood.  It is very scary and emotional. I am waiting on blood results to see what I need to do next.  best of luck to you, you are not alone.

I got the results back yesterday they said that my HCG levels had dropped significantly and I must likely already lost the baby. :( The bleeding has slowed down a lot and sometimes even stopped. I took an at home test today just to see and it was a definite negative.

Thank you; I should know by 9 am tomorrow if my hcg levels have gone up. I am trying to stay positive but can't help but worry. The blood turned to a brighter red for a little bit today and now is back to a dark brown which I am hoping is a good sign. I just wish it would stop completely.

It can be normal to have some spotting in early pregnancy but you did exactly the right thing by going to see your Dr as any bleeding needs to be investigated.

It's difficult to know so early on in the pregnancy and I hope that everything turns out ok for you.
