Early scan- gestationl sac only

Hi
I have a history of miscarriages and went for a scan yesterday. I was either 5 weeks and 2 or 5 weeks and 3 days. My hcg levels were good. Scan only showed gestational sac at about 8mm. They said they would like to have seen more and I should return in a week. Does anyone have any experience of this? I have just had 3 consecutive m/c. Thank you

Hi Summer,

Thanks for your response.  This was a vaginal ultrasound and they were quite thorough.  They told me to be "cautiously optimistic and manage my expectations" as I have already been through 3 miscarriages in the past 16 months.  I hope it was too early to see anything but I don't know whether I am kidding myself and would rather be practical about it if possible as its all very very difficult- at least I'm a bit more prepared for Friday,  Thanks again for your time

It is very possible the pregnancy was too early to be seen ..I had that happen when I was pregnant with my daughter ..they scheduled me a few days later for a vaginal ultrasound an we finally got too see her ...was this a regular ultrasound? Did they mention a vaginal ultrasound?? If not wait a week an go back ..don't give up .
