I'm 9 wks but ultrasound showed 5 weeks

According to my LMP I should be 9.5 weeks right now.  I went to the doctor yesterday for my ultrasound which showed 5 weeks.  The tech said it looked normal if I really was only 5 weeks.  He took bloodwork and wants to see me in 2 weeks but he said it could go either way.  If anyone else has had this happen could you please share to ease my mind!

My period is usually normal.  The only thing I can think of is I should have had my period Jan 10th and if I did have that then the conception date would have been dead on to be at 5 weeks.  Can the egg get fertilized and become pregnant right after a missed period?

that's a pretty big discrepany, so I'm not sure.  Did you have regular cycles?  Like, a normal length?  All I can think of is that your dates may be way off due to late ovulation or something like that.  I'm sorry you have to wait 2 weeks to really see what's going on.  Waiting is awful.  I hope eveything turns out good.

The tech told it me it was normal for a 5 week pregnancy.  The doctor told me in 2 weeks after the next ultrasound we can see if it was still growing or not.
