Excessive bleeding weeks after miscarriage!

Hey all.  I had a miscarriage just over 4 weeks ago, i was bleeding for a week before this, so ive now been bleeding for just over 5 weeks!  About 2 weeks after the miscarriage i was given strong antibiotics as they thought i had an infection.  The bleeding got REALLY heavy just last week, where i started passing huge clots and the blood was literally pouring out me! Went to the docs who sent me to the emergency gynae clinic, where they took bloods and swabs etc,  got told i had had a complete miscarriage according to the scan after the actual miscarriage, hope this makes sense!  So their only explanation was that my hormones have gone crazy, they gave me more antibiotics and put me on hormone tablets to stop the bleeding, that was 10 days ago and the bleeding is still as heavy although the clots are smaller (still big enough that i can feel them come out).

Im supposed to have 3 weeks of these hormone pills then i should have a period, but the bleeding just isnt going away!! I contacted the hospital just to be told that i have to give the pills time. Im on iron tabs too as this is just draining me, i have been of my work for weeks now and i cant possibly go back the now whilst im bleeding so heavily!

Sorry for the long post, im at my wits end!  Has anyone else had anything like this after a miscarriage?  We really want to add to our family (we have a 14 month old daughter) and this constant heavy bleeding is just getting us all down.

i had this after my last miscarriage.i did a scan then the radiologist told there are remaining parts inside and that is the reason for the so long blooding,and i have to do a d&c again.then my gyno told me to do beta hcg test and she told that only little parts remaining so no need of d&c,she gave 3tablets to keep under the tongue.i cant remember the name.then the remaining parts came out and stopped blooding in 3days.

had a miscarrage 4weeks ago ...I too had bleeding issues I went to the emergency room and they did an ultrasound, and there was nothing there, I began bleeding very heavily and so I contacted my doc  -turns out I still have tissue left friom the miscarriage..the hostpital was no help...He is sending me in for a D&C thursday..
thank goodness for my doctor.

I had bleeding for 6 weeks after my last mc, but it was only really heavy for about the first 2 weeks, then was like having a never-ending period. They also tested and did not find anything left in the uterus.  It took a long time for my body to feel back to normal and Dr advised waiting at least 2 full cycles to let the lining recover before ttc again - that ended up being 6 mos after the mc started. I hope the bleeding stops for you soon.
