Possible Fetus remained after a D&C?

I'm 25 y/o female and I've had 3 miscarriages. 1st: Dec 2008. 2nd: Aug 2009. 3rd: Jun 2010. I m/c naturally on the first and I've had a D&C for the last two. On June 15, 2010 I had my last m/c. I only spotted for that day, didn't bleed until one week after for 7 days. I didn't have a period for July. My next period came back on Aug 1st. I bleed for 7 days then spotted and clots for the rest up until yesterday (Aug 24). Yesterday and today I bled more rather than just spotting. I've always had severe back pain and cramps during periods. Since my last miscarriage, back pain has become normal for me. Today though, while showering and cleaning myself...something weird happened! I pulled out something "different" from my insides. It wasn't like the usual clotting I've been having. Google images of a 8-10 week fetus inside of a womb and that's exactly what I saw. EXACTLY what I saw!!! I felt it, the texture was not that of a regular clot. It felt harder, like the cartilage on a chicken perhaps or bones? Any ideas and thoughts on my experience?

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this :(  and sorry for all your losses.  It is possible for a D&C to miss the fetus, do you know if you had the scrape or the suction?  What you have described does not sound like normal loss following a D&C.  I had to have a D&C for a missed miscarriage and I lose very small tissue clots even now (my D&C was Jan 2010) but nothing like you have described.  Your health care provider is wrong to be so dismissive, could you not go in there with the sample and insist they look at it?  My main concern, aside from the emotional impact on you is to check that you have no infection.

Again I am really sorry to hear you have had to go through this xx

Hey there, first of all I am very sorry to hear about all the pain and losses you have been though and now for this to happen to you, when I hear things like that I just want to hug you. Anyways, back to the subject, It is very possible for tissue and even the baby to be left behind after a D&C, Unfortunately the only thing i can find as an example is abortion, when people have the D&C for this, there are many many cases of women going home having alot of pain and bleeding and eventually passing what is essentially their aborted babies, most of them perfectly formed and some wont they will still carry to term, these are failed abortions and they happen alot! (there is alot of info available on the net about it) It sounds to me like the D&C you had to have after your loss has failed to remove everything from inside you and oyu have had to see your baby come away, I am very sorry this has happened to you. I hope that everything is perfect should you fall pregnant again and I hope the pain and grief you must feel eases for you soon! good luck for the future and all the best to you :)

I've s.w. my office over and over and they kept telling me "it's normal". I've called in regards to the last matter but I did not get returned call. I haven't bled or spot since then so far.

If you saved the tissue, your doctor can order it to the lab, and they can tell you in an instant whether it is embryonic tissue or not.

i would definitely call your doctor and speak to them about this. I can't imagine them doing an D&C and not actually removing anything, but it would be worth it to call and ask.
