Blighted ovum

Hi everyone!! I am new at this and I need help. My lmp was aug 13th and I went to the doctor on aug 29th for first ultrasound because my progesterone level was dropping. The ultrasound tech measured me at 4w5d ( which I thought should have been 6w5d)  and only saw a gestational sac. I again had a my ultrasound 1 week later on oct 6 and found again only the gestational sac, no yolk sac or fetal pole. My doctor diagnosed me with blighted ovum and told me I will miscarry on my own... My question is that is it too early to not see yolk sac and fetal pole? I am not having any cramping or bleeding. Should I get second opinion?

I am actually going through the same thing you are unfortunately. My lmp was. Aug.29th and I should be 6wks and 2 or 3 days..the u/s tech said she Thinks I'm 8 weeks, and have a blighted ovum bc she can't find the baby. My dr. Then said he didn't think this was the case, that he thought I possibly was less than they had though. I don't even know what to think..what has your doctor said to you or planned anything further?

Thank you so much for your response... They haven't checked my hcg levels since my first ultrasound and it was like 2500 two weeks ago. Also, since my Progesterone levels were dropping my dr started me on progesterone injections once a week. Please do give me the website info. Thank you so much again!!

Sorry about the blighted ovum. Have they checked your hcg levels? With the progesterone dropping its not a good sign. Also if you have to consecutive HCG drops it indicates you will miscarry. At 6 weeks there should be something in there unless you were mistaken about your last period date. Also the discrepancy between the date you should be and what is in the ultrasound is a good indicator too that you will miscarry. If you like I have a website that is a support group for miscarriages/blighted ovum ect.
