I had a miscarriage on may 31st 2009, please help me with some advise

I was 12 weeks pregnant and 31st may i sadly had a natural miscarriage, me and my fiance was devasted as we was tying for months to concieve. Only a few days later we was already having unprotected sex as we just wanted to get pregnant again as i heard that your very fertile after a misscarry. My problem is that i am so scared that i will miscarry again, all i want is to have the baby i always dreamed off. Are the chances higher of me miscarrying again so soon after the last one ? I have heard so many peoples story's, some people get pregnant again straight away and go to term and some dont.... i just hope i do. is there anything i can do to makesure i do ? any tips on being prepared and healthy ? please help me. All i want is my baby

I'm sorry for your loss. Unfortuneately there is no way of knowing it will happen again. Although dr's will say once you hit the 11 wk mark you are safe but actually the 2nd trimester begins at 14 wks. Anyone is at risk for a m/c even in the 2nd trimester but the percentage is quite low. Sometimes there is no reason given to us why we miscarry. Usually the reasons are due to chromosomal abnormalities or an infection of some kind or an incompetant uterus. Dr's tend not to worry to much with women who have experienced 2 or less. Dr's will intervene with a woman who has had a miscarriage and has trouble ttc etc. When you are ready to try again you will know. Some women need a few cycles to heal both mentally and physically and others will try right away. You are right women are most fertile for the first 2 wks after a m/c. Also the first day of the m/c is the first day of your cycle too. Sometimes ovulation can be affected. I hope that is not the case for you. Keep your chin up and I hope you feel better soon.
I'm here if you need to talk!

i am so, so, so sorry. i lost a baby at 14 weeks but that is because i am much older. at age 20 your eggs should be very healthy. if you can go to a doctor to make sure nothing else is wrong, it would help prepare you and rule out any complications for the next one. i am not sure how that works in the UK, but here in the US they can make sure your uterus is okay (shape), that your blood does not clot, that your immune system is okay and not attacking the fetus, etc. i would think you should be fine, maybe not as quick as next month but eventually. others here on this website will give you more advice and comfort. let us know how it goes.
