I am 9 weeks and found out today I have a placenta abruption..not complete disconnect but slight..no bleeding just cramping..I have read many stories and I am wondering if I should have a medical termination due to all of these possible issues that may come in the future..from what I understand this doesnt occur until after 20wks..The doc told me as of now my pregnancy was in "limbo" for now...???..any advice

I lost my baby boy at 22 weeks due to placental abruption.  The problem was I started leaking amniotic fluid along with it and got an infection so they had to deliver.  How bad is your placental abruption??  The great thing is you are 25 weeks.  I have no idea how it started I wasn't in any accident or anything.  I am going into the doctor this week to find out the results from the testing they did on my placenta to see if that was the cause or not.  You are in my thoughts!  Stay strong!

Actually, abruption becomes more likely as you get furthur along in gestational age.

While many abruptions are due to trauma, there are other contributing factors that can result in an abruption.  Often times, the reason is unknown.

And yes, sometimes abruption can result in a stillbirth.

I would think that by 25 weeks it would have to be an abruption due to trauma, like a car accident etc...most abruptions are first trimester, to the very best of my knowledge. However I have learned anything is possible in medicine, its unlikely however at 25 weeks , like I suggested.
