Conceiving after a Miscarriage

I just thought I would ask all of you if there is anyone out there that went on to have a healthy pregnancy after a miscarriage.  I had a miscarriage at Christmas and my husband and I would like to start trying again as soon as I get my period.  I was 17 weeks along and just got the autopsy results back from the doctor and my baby had an extra chromosome 13.  He told me there is nothing I could have done to prevent the miss.  I was just wondering if there are any success stories of women going on to have healthy babies after a miss.  This was my first pregnancy and I am feeling a little defeated.  It took my husband 9 months to get pregnant and I am just dreading starting this process over again.  Any thoughts?

i had a missed misscarraige in nov i was 16 weeks,i only had my first period on the 9th jan.so me and my partner have been trying ever since.ill be due on beginning of feb so ill just av to wait and see.i didnt have any tests done on the fetus but my midwife and doctor said the same sort of thing(chromosones).its very scary trying again ,but there is no reason why it should happen again.i too have already started taking folic acid, cutting out caffine ect just to give the pregnancy the best possible chance.i have 2 healthy children,so it goes to show it can happen to anyone, even if you have already got kids, its just  one of those things.

I'm so sorry for your loss, most miscarriages just happen for an un-known reason.  Sometimes accepting that it just happened is hard.

You didn't say if you had it naturally or if you had a D&C.  If you had it naturally I've heard of many who have gone on to have a healthy pregnancy right afterwards.  If you had a D&C, I really haven't heard of many, I know there are some.

If you had a natural miscarriage I say go for it!  I would have!  If you had a D&C, wait one full cycle, please, (I know it's hard, trust me!), with a D&C they take much more of the lining out than if it happened naturally so you need the cycle to give a plush lining for the baby to attach to.

Hi, I can't talk from experience as I have only just had my miscarriage.  However my daughter-in-law miscarried last year and is now pregnant again, she had a scan yesterday which showed her at 12 weeks with a healthy baby.  A close friend of mine had a missed miscarriage and went on to have two beautiful healthy baby girls.  So yes it is possible to go on to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy.  It is the thought that I can try again that is keeping me going right now.  As soon as I am able I will be be ttc, yes i'm going to be scared of it happening again but that is perfectly normal.  My plan is to make sure my body is as healthy as possible before we start to ttc.  I shall cut out caffeine, eat healthily, change my meds etc etc.  In other words I'm not taking any chances.  I shall also start taking the folic acid asap.

Good luck to you hon xxx

Hey, im guna start bys aying im so sorry for your loss. I too m/c at xmas, i was 6weeks. I am TTC again, so i dnt speak from experience but, my opinion is that u were just unlucky. Just because u m/c this time, doesnt mean u will next time. You have the same chance at having a normal baby as anyone else. I do hear how its hard waiting so long for it only to end in a m/c, but trust me, if its ment to happen it will.  Are you using the ovulation tracker on here..?! That may help you pin point your fertile times and achieve pregnancy quicker, thats what im hoping anyway! Lots of baby dust ****
And good luck.
