When to expect first period after miscarriage???

So I've been told that it would take 4-6 weeks to get my period again. My question is should I start counting from the day I first bled during the miscarriage or the day I actually passed all the tissue and the miscarriage is complete? Any response will be most kind, thank you!

Thank you for your warm replies. I was 9 weeks measuring 6 when I miscarried... I started bleeding on a Sunday night and passed everything by Friday then spotted until the following Monday. After that no bleeding or spotting whatsoever. Two weeks later I had thick white discharge... the third week I took a pregnancy test to see if I would still show up positive which I didn't, the test was negative. I am 4 weeks past the time the miscarriage was complete and no period as of yet. I am guessing my hcg dropped around the time I stopped bleeding because the thick white discharge 2 weeks later was probably me ovulating... SO.. I should expect my period this week or next? UNless I am pregnant again.... but it's probably too soon to test....SO many uncertainties...

I'm sorry for your loss.  Well, it really depends on how far along you were and how long it takes for your hcg levels to reach zero.  Are you havign bloodwork done to see when that happens?  I've miscarried 3 times, the first 2 naturallly at around 5/6 weeks, and most recently a missed m/c @ 12 wks; had to have a d&c.  After that one, I started 4 weeks exactly after the d&c.  With the others, I believe it was about the same, maybe a bit longer.  I know with my second m/c it took about 5 weeks from teh time I started bleeding for my hcg to drop to zero, for some reason it lowered verrryy slooowly, wichh was frustrating.
On average, though, I would expect AF about 4 weeks after.  And, since you ovulate 2 wks before AF, it is entirely possible to get pregnant again right away.  I did with m/c #2, and had a perfectly healthy little boy, now 18 months old.  :)
Best wishes!
