Report differs from office visit?

I got my summary report from my first neuro last week, and there are several things in it that differ completely from what I was told during the office visit. I know I have some "cognitive" issues, but they can't be this bad.

It says that joint position was normal on both sides. I couldn't even feel her fingers on my big toe on the right, much less where she positioned the toe.

It says that lower reflexes (knee) were 2+ on both sides. While I was there, the person who did those commented that the left was quite brisk relative to the right.

It says that vibrational sense was the same for both feet. But when I was there, the woman doing that test got all dramatic about my responses in my right foot especially but commented that it was diminished in both feet.

More inconsistencies include outcome of pinprick testing and two-point discrimination testing and a comment of "very minor" right-sided weakness in upper extremity (at the time of the test, the tester person was VERY dramatic about the results of this test, I was so weak).

Anyone else had this experience? Her report makes me sound considerably more "OK" than I thought I was after coming out of her office, where I got the impression of pretty serious right-sided weakness, unilateral hyperreflexia, and poor vibrational and positional sense, esp on the right.

Thanks,
E

Thanks for making me laugh. I believe it was I who said "WTF" after I read that. ;)

She didn't even do some of that exam. Her PA did.

I am seeing a second neuro on Thursday. That report was just too inconsistent with my own memory.

"Dry labbing," huh? I'll have to remember that one.

It sounds to me like the doc (same one who wrote the summary???) forgot what the exam showed and "dry-lab'd" it.  Maybe didn't dictate it until much later and just made up a normal exam?  She deserves to be confronted on it and you need a new neuro.

You're not an idiot.  If the exam was truly different, at least on some parts you can tell.

Who was it that said: "WTF?"
