*bump* so I can have some company at tomorrow night's teleconference. Does anyone else plan on dialing in?
Silkcut, the link I posted to the UCSF MS Clinic is a good one - in basic terms it gives the statistics on the number of people with MS and a negative MRI, and MS and a negative LP.
I hope at least our newer folks will take the time to read all the pages on this site - its has a ton of information in addition to the MRI pics.
Hi Lulu
Thanks for the heads up. Like some others, I won't be able to take part but I'd really appreciate a transcript of the Q&A.
...I know it's a faf and time consuming to transcribe from voice recordings, so I'll put my hand up to help if you want to farm out some of the tape/s.
BTW, I'm particularly interested in all these 'new-fangled' imaging techniques because I feel that we're actually quite misled about them sometimes.
For example, I don't think the vast majority of people realise that there are different Tesla weights/strengths that can make all the difference between diagnosis and misdiagnosis. And this 'contrast' buisness is quite the mystery to even more people too.
In other words, MRIs etc are taken to be infallible by the general public and they're not (nor is it good that some doctors seem to over-rely on them as 'gold standard' conclusive...)
I shall stop there! You can tell I'm about to mount the podium re conversion disorder and such misdiagnoses, can't you...?! LOL

Speaking of MRI's - I was just looking at this page researching the allergy/exacerbation question and found this great set of identical slice MRI pics with different imaging (T1, T2 and w/gad). Its about half-way down this page. Lots of other good stuff on this page, too.

Duh for me. Sorry Lulu. I didn't even see the double time listings or I would have known that. I just saw the date at one end and the time at the other. It must be some black hole interference. Thanks for clarifying for me. I think I might be able to do the second one now.
Mary
Yes, my fingers misfired. Both days the first time listed is ET and the second time is PT.
Thursday program should read - May 20, 9 PM ET, 6 PM PT
Unfortunately they don't seem to post the recordings for replay later.

thanks for the info... not sure if I'll be able to attend the teleconference, but would love to hear about it..
take care

Is it PT one day and ET the other or is that a misfire? Either way it will be difficult to impossible for me to listen in to either one. Do they record them for replay later? Guess I'll have to check out the link. Thanks for adding that.
Hey Laura. Michelle and I are going to a Life Line presentation on Tuesday. We'll share ours if you share yours ;)
Mary
Thanks Lu sounds like a valauble use of time, I hope to catch it.
Thanks Lulu,
I dont have skype, its not that big over here yet, though it sounds pretty good, must check it out.
Thanks again.
Cheers.......JJ
Sure thing, JJ. I did that last summer when I sat in on the talks that were done by my neuro for SS. I wrote about them in detail here - he spoke on the immune system and MS.
The number is good in Canada, I believe, but doesn't stretch to the UK. If you have skype you could dial in for the hour at a pretty cheap rate (1.5 cents a minute, I believe).
otherwise, I will be happy to be the scribe,
Lulu
Unfortunately i'm not able to do the teleconferences, I'm sure there are others out of the country that cant do it either. So do you think it would be ok if someone is doing it, if you could indulge us 'left outers' and post something you discovered or found interesting or just the basic run down.
Much appreciated!! :-)
Cheers.......JJ
Thanks for the info :0
They always have good info on these Teleconferences.
Take Care,
~Tonya
it cut off the final digit of the number which should be a 0.
If you can't figure this out, you can always go to the SS website and get the number there.
