Yes, it's possible to have both. However, you also have fibromyalgia type pain with MS (spasticity causes this type of pain feeling). Pain is pain and it's good that you're getting treatment for it; however, I hope your neuro doesn't dismiss the possibility of MS with a fibromyalgia diagnosis. White matter lesions are not caused by fibromyalgia and MS has a completely different treatment. I have a fibromyalgia diagnosis, too (prior to my MS diagnosis); however my neuro thinks it's completely bogus.

The first MRI said that demonstrates scattered bilateral hypodensities in the subcortical white matter that are nonspecific findings but probably microvascular in nature. These findings are also compatible with MS. The diffusion weighted images are unremarkable. The signal flow voids of the visualized intracranial vascular structures are unremarkable. White matter disease vs MS. MRI with contrast is suggested for futher evaluation. I have had 2 w/wo contrast since this one in 07/07. I have to get the reports for both before I go back to him next thursday.
Thanks for responding Ada
I will ask about the patches
Hi there, yes it is possible to have both fibro and MS. I hope Heather here will come to aid in this thread, she has both. What did your MRI report say? It is good to hear of a Dr doing a patient good and not dismissing you.
I take the same meds you do but I also take Tylenol 3 or hydrocodone with it. Some days it feels like none of the meds are doing anything to help. There are pain patches called Lidoderm, they are great for those sore muscles but kind of pricey. I would ask about them.
I am glad that you found us, please stick around, others here will join in as well. Have you checked out our health pages yet? They are a wealth of information.
Again Welcome to our little corner of cyberspace!!!
Many Hugs,
