Anybody heard of Master Cleanse?

Has anyone heard of Master Cleanse? If so, what do you think of it? I'm thinking about trying it for a couple of weeks, not necessarily to lose weight but just to feel better. I've had problems with my gut for at least a year now. They're still not sure if I have Crohns or not. I've had ulcers and a mass removed last year. It just seems like everything upsets my stomach and gut anymore. I got lax the last few months, too, and started eating out a lot and buying more processed foods because they're easier and faster to make. I think I'm suffering for it now.
I noticed last year before my surgery to remove the mass that I couldn't eat anything without pain so I went on a liquid diet for a couple of weeks before the surgery. I just had clear liquids like broth. But I felt better! I think it was because I was giving my system a little break.
Anyway, that's why I thought about doing the Master Cleanse for awhile. I don't want to do anything dangerous though, so I was wondering if anyone else has tried it or heard about it and what they thought.
Thanks! I hope I hear back from a few of you.

I have used Dr. Richard Schulze's cleanses.  He has a website.  Not too expensive just to do an intestinal cleanse and fairly simple.  I haven't the discipline to follow through on the others.  Just the intestinal cleanse helped with my cravings.  The other ones (Liver, Gallblader, etc.) are supposed to make you feel even better.  I've heard of the master cleanse too.  Cleanses are good for people, especially those whose bodies don't detox themselves well.  Watch your vitamins.  Some people with health conditions can have problems with cleanses.  Read up on detoxing to get a perspective on it if need be.

It's even better if you step your diet up to eliminate things that stress your individual body (can be food allergies, gluten, lactose, especially sugar) and add things that naturally contribute to what your body needs to function at its best.  Digestive Wellness was an insightful book for me along with other things I mentioned.

Good luck!

I have heard of it and have actually done a version of it myself....modified because I am type 1 diabetic. While there are lots of claims out there regarding the benefits of this program, medical studies have proven there really is no effect other then perhaps, some temporary weight loss due to the fasting.

Personally, I tried this when I was very sick from celiac disease, which I did not know I had at the time...so while on the cleanse I did feel some improvement in symptoms. This was not due to the cleanse specifically but due to the fact that I was not eating gluten during the time I was on the program.

It won't hurt you, but don't expect miracles ;)

It has been shown useful to try before starting any major dietary changes as it helps to "reset" the pallet (reducing sugar, salt and fat cravings).
