Not 2 cases are alike.
I had a similar issue involving alopecia nervosa and yeast infection
and it got resolved between a dermatologist and myself in few weeks.
It was a good dermatologist, but it helps to be knowledgeable and proactive.
Cheers
I have found dermatologists where I am to be completely uninterested in finding the cause for skin and hair issues. They just want to use topical treatments. I could have had my Celiac diagnosis 20 years earlier if they had taken an interest instead of just prescribing the same topicals, even after I told them they didn't work. So I'd rule out all the medical causes for problems before seeing a dermatologist.
I agree with comment #1. Thyroid.
Hey rubberhead.
Welcome to the forum.
You must make an appointment to see a dermatologist .
This will save you time, just in the event this is progressive.
Adrenal/ hormonal dysfunction and or changes are highly suspect,
as Caryopteris mentioned. However, the Dermatologist should be familiar with any underlying cause regarding your hair loss.

It is a personal choice.

Could be your thyroid or food allergies or change in hormone levels. Your profile doesn't say if you are male or female, but see your doctor for blood tests.
