L5-S1 Herniated disc

I cant sit or lie down for a minute without severe pain in my buttocks groin area . When I stand and walk the pain subsides. When I first found out about the herniation from an MRI after over a year of having the pain and three cat scans I took advice from a chiropracter friend and went for treatment on a spinemed decompression table. I am through 15 of 18 treatments with no relief yet. When I showed the DC the latest CT she pointed out the herniation.I am very upset the hospital didnt see it when they did the CT I will be looking at the first two when I get back from the treatment. If you look at the side view of the MRI the herniation is pressing about 3/8 to 1/2 of the way into the nerve column behind the spinal cord could that be causing cramoing/pain in my buttock/groin area? I am so over the pain and inability to sit and relax or lie down I am seriouslly considering having an operation but do not know if there is anything else I can do to avoid it. Frontal view on CT shows that the vertebra are very close possibly bone on bone and no medication vicodin 750 anti inflamatories muscle relaxers epidural shots have given me any relief. Climbing the walls would be a good example of the pain on the 1-10 scale. I hope that there is relief and no permanent damage. What are my options?

I had a crushed L5s1. Had surgery to remove it. Everyday the pain is just horrible! Steroids do work for awhile, but then back to the pain. There has to be a way out of this ordeal..Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a few sheets that are mostly yoga poses. Sow long have you had yours? I cant wait only 12 more hours so I can sleep to get away from it. Just woke up. Without them I wont sleeep I hate taking them but whats worse? Where are you located? Have you considered surgery? I am so desperate to be able to sit or lie down its just not fun anymore.

Hi Jack,

I too currently have a herniated disc in the same area.  I'm going through IDD therapy which is another type of decompression therapy and getting some relief.  Has anybody suggested some type of physical therapy?  I understand the pain and how bad it can be.  Please be careful with the meds as they can become addictive.  I do a lot of stretching and core exercises along with ice.   Good luck!!!!!!
