striaght toe syndrome

my husband is having pain at the back of his ankle. He sleeps on his stomach with his feet stiaght and his toes pointed downward. He wakes up in such pain it takes a bit for him to walk comfortably and still has the pain throughout the day just not as bad as the mornings. I'm searching for anyone that can give me more info and insight into this problem.

Could have something to do w/ his achilles tendon or another tendon.I'm finding out more and more that ankle pain could be a hundred and one things.I might try putting ice on the side/back of ankle-for 15 min. intervals- and try an NSAID, as more than likely swelling is the cause of the pain.If this doesn't help then try to find a Dr. that is in- or has interest in- sports medicine. Good luck to you.
