Getting worse

I started occupational therapy because my pinky finger won't straighten out. The middle joint is super swollen. It seems to be getting worse. My mom is not wanting to take me back because they seem to be guessing a lot. Nothing is for sure. They think I strained te ligaments on the sides of my pinky. They put me in a splint and sent me home.  The pain is worse and so is the swelling. The bottom of my finger is straighter but the top is curving more. Has anyone else had this problem? Does their diagnoses sound right?

Ya it doesn't make any sense to me either. I had an X-ray in January about 2.5 months after the injury. They keep guessing about what might help yet they are also just guessing at what is wrong with my pinky. I do have bad knees. When I fell I the palms of both hands looked like raw hamburger and my pinky hurt really bad but other than that no my hands were fine.  My mom is taking me to the orthopedic specialist tomorrow for my knees and I think I'll ask him about my pinky. I was just trying to figure out what to do about my pinky before hand because the pain and swelling are getting worse now that I wear the splint full time.

All that treatment for a pinky and they are guessing? How about an xray? Did they even do that? You can't do therapy without knowing what's wrong. Do you have other medical conditions? Wherever you went..go to your family doc instead or a new doctor. Did you injure your hand?

Hello!

Go for present day X-ray and MRI to understand any bony or soft tissue ( ligament or tendon ) injury.

Follow up with an orthopedician.

Keep your finger in the splint and also take pain killers and apply ice packs to decrease the pain and inflammation.

Take care!
