Burning, tingling, numbness and pain for over a year...

My left hand twisted counterclockwise while it was left under a heavy mattress. My forearm was pressed up against the bed frame and my wrist was folded up. I received xrays on two separate occasions and had no broken bones.

the pain eventually got a little bit better within about a month however it went up and down throughout the course of the last year. it seem like I would have weeks of strong pain and in a couple days without any pain and have hopes that it was better or healing.

recently I talk to an acupressure therapist who said that he can cure carpal tunnel syndrome as it was what the doctors said I probably have.after going to the acupressure therapist about 4 weeks ago my pain has been substantially worse and I have that numb and tingling feeling throughout my hand elbow and shoulder. Sometimes it feels like my arm is about to fall off and not having medical insurance until hopefully this coming January I don't know what I should do. Is it very likely that it is indeed carpal tunnel syndrome where is there a good chance that there's some other form of nerve damage but has not been properly diagnosed. If I have to wait until January for medical insurance since its been a year that I have entered my wrist and arm would it make that much of a difference waiting it out 6 more months where is there anything else I can do right now without any sort of medical insurance.

Thank you all in advance.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Since you have pain along the whole arm, in all probably there is injury or pressure to the nerves in the armpit or at the elbow.  If you are undergoing physiotherapy, then exercises must not cause further injury to the nerves in the armpit or at the elbow. Also, it could be a muscle injury like bicep injury. I suggest you give the arm rest (as physiotherapy is worsening the pain), take anti-inflammatory pain killer and some vitamin B. Use a slig to give arm support. Meanwhile try and find out your options for diagnosis and treatment. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.

Thank you very much Dr. Mathur. My husband should be eligible for medical insurance at the beginning of next year, so I am hopeful to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis. I do have a pain under my armpit sometimes and in my elbow. It has been a year and I am worried waiting any longer could make this chronic. Your message makes me feel more comfortable though that waiting may not be too bad.

Thank you.
