3 surgeries on the same thing and worse than ever

Hi there,

I had a freidberg's infarction of my right foot 2nd metatarsal head. I had my first surgery 9 years ago where a resection was performed. I was great up until a year or so ago when the pain and a lump returned on the same area. The same surgeon did another metatarsal head resection last March. I had a horrible after experience, I had bleeding and got an infection and the swelling would not go away. I had to keep seeing the surgeon and it was found that the cut he made was very slanted and it was rubbing on another bone and it created a spur. The pain was awful and they prescribed me morphine for months. The surgeon said he had to go back in and fix it and do another resection but said that he would pin it this time as there would be so much less bone. So I let him do a third surgery in October. He didnt pin it for some reason though. So the post op went well. But about a month later I noticed that my toe no longer touched the ground with my step and that it was getting very painful underneath on both sides of the bone. My toe was much much shorter this time. The pain has returned and is worse than ever before. The second toe is now not only lifted up high but has curved over and now lies atop my middle toe. I have pain in the toe, underneath and on both sides as well as the middle toe from the second toe lying on top of it. My surgeon was refusing to see me as he said he did all he could and didnt even care to see what has happened. I finally got an appt to see him for tomorrow. But I need to go in there with some knowledge that this all isnt normal. I cant run anymore, flex my foot in the front, go on my tip toes at all, and walking is even painful. This was suppose to be a simple operation and now my foot is almost deformed and I live in intense pain with limited activities and I am only 34. Any thoughts??? I would see another ortho but it will be almost a year wait to get in.

Well had my appt. He agree's that I have no flexion in my foot. My step is way off and that my toe is scissoring. he has no clue what to do. I am being sent a few hours away to see a specialist. I really hope they can fix this. In the mean time I am suppose to deal with the intense pain.
